Giovanni Libero is an emerging artist. Born (1991) and raised in Italy by parents originally from Algeria. He lived and worked in Berlin (Germany) where he started focusing on art in 2013. Since 2014 he is student of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (Poland). He uses sound, action (performance) and painting as a tool to research the origin of consciousness. Artist’s statement: “Attempt to sophistication expires brutally into nothingness. Life is simple. Simple things are the necessary things. Groping to escape the “clichés”, as some call them, brings only illusory constructs: logic, materialism, certainty, non-belief, arrogance, cynicism, indifference, perfectionism, hypocrisy of social life, are nothing sophisticated but only clichés. And all forms of art and human expression must be free of them. Art is the form of consciousness, not an object with materialistic purposes.” Individual Exhibitions: 2016 – “Destruction of Eva: performance”, Wierzbowa 21, Szczecin, Poland. Group Exhibitions: 2015 – “BUNNY SUIT RELEASE PARTY with a Berlin Arts Exhibition”, Fluxbau, Berlin, Germany. 2013 – “KUNST AM SPREE KNIE FESTIVAL – Open Studios in the Funkhaus”, Funkhaus, Berlin, Germany.

Work / soundart

title (one work only) Breath of a black ground, 2015, 4:07 minutes
This piece is capturing us and throwing us into another dimension. A fluid world where everything is flowing. The most real portrait of reality, which is at the same time a self-portrait of the author but also of the person experiencing this work. Remembering us that reality is constructed as a reflection of the emotions of all of us. Our consciousness creates the world we live in. Flowing and mixing together, creating and destroying. The waves of this sounds, like the waves of the sea, the sea we polluted, the earth we polluted. The ground of our black souls persecuting others and ourselves with its toxic breath. This is the world we live in and its global economic-politic-environmental crisis striking at a new time of our history.
